In general, most people choose to wear their fascinators slightly off centre, on the side of their head. The position of the fascinator depends on a variety of things, such as weight and style/period look, whether hair is cropped, long, straight, curly or swept off the face.
Most fascinators come with a comb, clip and/or band to hold them into place. However, if you find that you need some more support bobby pins often come in handy, otherwise back combing a section of hair can provide just as much support. Lighter fascinators are much easier to wear as they need far less adjusting.
For the younger generation, bright colours, diamantes and exotic feathers or flowers can often be a fun way to dress up any outfit. Larger, more extravagant fascinators are often something the youth carry off with ease. Above 35’s needn’t despair but should keep fascinators simple and elegant. Neutral colours such as browns, blacks, cream lace and feathers will depict an air of class without resorting to the dated hat trend.
